Welcome to the New Jersey Council on Special Transportation's Official Website. The Site was designed to not only inform members of our organizations activities, but also to assist individuals not familiar with what transportation services are available.
At this Site, the word transportation may refer to paratransit, special transportation, community transportation, employment transportation and/or Medicaid transportation.
This NJ COST site was designed to be user friendly particularly to someone who is inquiring about transportation services in a particular county or town.The types of transportation advocated by NJ COST include services for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, low income, welfare to work and job access.
Transportation services may include but is not limited to: non-emergency medical appointments, dialysis, physical and mental therapy, competitive and non-competitive work sites, nutrition sites, post-secondary education Veteran services, food shopping, Medicaid transportation, social and recreational activities, etc.
The New Jersey Council on Special Transportation sponsors, co-sponsors and supports many events throughout the year including the TransAction Conference in Atlantic City, NJ; our annual Paratransit Roadeo and recognition awards; a vendor exposition; as well as our monthly membership meetings.
You Need to KNOW
Effective January 1, 2017, all non-governmental owned vehicles operating paratransit/community transportation services using a vehicles with 8-passengers or more MUST apply for a US DOT number.
